After a long stretch of speculation, Daniel Snyder is finally in the process of selling the Washington Commanders.

A group including billionaire investor Josh Harris and NBA legend Magic Johnson recently sent in a bid to purchase the team, and on Thursday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that progress is being made toward an official announcement of a sale in May.

Snyder first bought the team in 1999 following the death of its previous owner, Jack Kent Cooke.

Under Cooke, the franchise, which was then known as the Washington Redskins, won three Super Bowls in the 1980s and early 1990s and was regarded as one of the most respectable franchises in all of sports.

But since then, they have fallen on hard times, as they have made the playoffs just six times since 1992.

Even worse, Snyder has been embroiled in multiple scandals.

Most notably, he has been accused of creating what has been called a toxic workplace environment, and those accusations have included allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination.

But assuming a sale goes through, the Commanders can start anew and place all the focus on what happens on the field.

After starting the 2022 campaign 1-4, they won six of their next seven games and were in contention for a playoff spot until the end of the season.

They have a question mark at quarterback, but they do possess a solid Pro Bowl wide receiver in Terry McLaurin and a couple of Pro Bowl defensive tackles in Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne.
