After yet another early playoff exit, the Los Angeles Clippers have had to endure questions about their future.

One of those questions surrounded the status of head coach Tyronn Lue, who has been at the helm of the team for three seasons.

But executive Lawrence Frank said that Lue will indeed be back as the Clippers’ head coach next season.

Lue took over the Clippers three years ago after his predecessor, Doc Rivers, stepped down following a crushing loss in the Western Conference semifinals to the Denver Nuggets in which they blew a 3-1 series lead.

Before that, Lue spent two-and-a-half seasons coaching LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he led them to the NBA title in 2016.

For four seasons now, the Clippers have had one of the NBA’s best star tandems in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, yet despite often being picked as the favorites to win the world championship, they have been to the Western Conference Finals just once and are yet to appear in the NBA Finals.

Both Leonard and George are injury-prone — Leonard missed three of the five games the Clippers played against the Phoenix Suns in their first-round playoff loss this year, and George missed the whole series — and George has always been an inconsistent postseason performer.

The team will have a big decision to make regarding point guard Russell Westbrook, who was brought in late in the season from the buyout market and will be a free agent this summer.

Westbrook is still a good player at age 34, but he is simply too flawed to be the starting point guard of a championship team at this point of his career.
