Yankees Reporter Discusses Anthony Volpe’s Future
The New York Yankees added top shortstop prospect Anthony Volpe to their Opening Day roster back in March.
Volpe is a star who the Yankees are extremely high on and are hoping can help give them a spark in the future, as well as take the shortstop position by the reins.
Volpe is hitting just .194 to start the season, but has hit his first two home runs of the year and has turned some heads in the Bronx.
On Tuesday, Yankees beat writer Bryan Hoch spoke with Christopher Russo of MLB Network and discussed Volpe’s impact on the Yankees, as well as what the future holds for him.

Hoch credited Volpe for showing a good eye at the plate and being able to get on base consistently.
He also noted that with Volpe’s speed, he could turn a single into a double or double into a triple.
Hoch said that despite some of Volpe’s struggles, the Yankees knew that there would be some growing pains and that it wouldn’t always be easy for the young shortstop.
He then made a very profound statement, saying that Volpe is “a kid who belongs in a big-league lineup,” and that his future with the Yankees will be at the top of their order.
New York has recently moved Volpe into the leadoff spot.
Hoch referred to him as a table-setter and said that he believes that when all is said and done, the young shortstop will be just fine as the season progresses.
