Former Vice President Mike Pence to Headline Ohio Christian Fundraiser

Republican former Vice President Mike Pence, who is reportedly considering a 2024 presidential bid, will deliver the keynote address at a gala fundraiser thrown by the Center for Christian Virtue (CCV) in Cincinnati, Ohio next month.

The Cincinnati Celebration Gala for the CCV, Ohio’s largest Christian public policy organization, will take place at the Duke Energy Convention Center on May 9th. According to the CCV, it will be an evening of music, inspiration, and fellowship. The organization highlighted that Pence will be speaking on the pro-life battle facing both Ohio and the nation.

CCV President Aaron Baer told The Ohio Star that Ohio needs the encouragement and wisdom of strong, pro-life voices like Pence to prepare for the fight ahead to protect the unborn.

“I’m honored that Vice President Pence will deliver the keynote address at CCV’s 2023 Cincinnati Celebration Gala. As radical pro-abortion groups attempt to legalize abortion up to birth in Ohio, while also decimating parental rights and stripping away health and safety protocols that protect women, we need the encouragement and wisdom of strong, pro-life voices—like Vice President Pence—for the fight ahead,” Baer told The Star.

Ohio Pro-life advocates, including the CCV, are working tirelessly to stop a proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize abortion throughout the state.

The Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom, a coalition of radical pro-abortion activists that includes Planned Parenthood, Pro-Choice Ohio, the Abortion Fund of Ohio, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Ohio, along with the Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights, have introduced a proposed constitutional amendment called “The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety,” which would add a Section 22 to Article 1 of the state constitution.

The proposal would remove Ohio’s parental notification legislation when a minor wants an abortion and the requirement that abortionists adhere to fundamental hospital health and safety standards. The proposal also aims to permit abortions after babies have heartbeats and can feel pain.

The CCV is one of the most prominent advocates for conservative social issues at the Ohio Statehouse, supporting Pence’s positions on advocating for the unborn.

Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V Wade last summer, Pence vowed not to rest until abortion is illegal in every state.

“We must not rest and must not relent until the sanctity of life is restored to the center of American law in every state in the land,” Pence said in an interview with Breitbart News.

Pence was the 48th Vice President of the United States, an office he held from 2017 to 2021. Before becoming Donald Trump‘s running mate, he served as Governor of Indiana from 2013 to 2017. As governor, he claimed to have successfully lowered taxes, promoted job growth, expanded educational choice, and increased school funding.

Pence served in the U.S. House of Representatives for six terms, representing east-central Indiana, from 2001 to 2013. Throughout his time in Congress, he made a name for himself as a supporter of the U.S. Constitution, fiscal responsibility, economic development, and limited government.

Pence established Advancing American Freedom (AAF) after leaving the White House, a group that creates novel, conservative policy proposals, partnerships, and communications to increase freedom for all Americans.

Pence is one of several Republicans considering a bid for the presidency in 2024. Ron DeSantis, Florida’s governor and a potential GOP presidential candidate, recently visited West Chester Township and spoke with Republicans on April 13th.

The last time Pence visited the area was in June 2022, when he participated in a round table discussion with Governor Mike DeWine and oil and gas executives at a Spring Grove Village business.
