Kason Thomas reunited with family in time for Christmas

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After many within the Columbus community spent three days searching for 5-month-old Kason Thomas, who went missing with his twin brother Kyair on Monday, the whole family was reunited late Thursday evening.

What You Need To Know

  • 5-month-old Kason Thomas and his twin brother Kyair went missing when their mother’s car was stolen in Columbus last Monday
  • Kyair was found the next morning in Dayton, but Kason remained missing
  • On Thursday, the woman accused of kidnapping the twins was taken into custody in Indianapolis
  • Hours later, Kason was found in the stolen car and taken to a nearby hospital before being returned to Columbus

What started as a carjacking turned into a kidnapping case late Monday night. Nalah Jackson is accused of stealing a 2010 Honda Accord with the twin boys inside. While Kyair was found on Tuesday, Kason remained missing for another two days.

John T. Coats II is a Columbus pastor who provided prayers and comfort for the family during the search. He said that this story is what the holidays are all about.

“This community turns to God, this community will turn to each other in praying for the strengthening and sustention of this family,” said Coats.

Kyair was found Tuesday morning in a Dayton airport parking lot, but Kason was still missing and each minute mattered.

Jackson was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after being spotted in Indianapolis. Kason was found that evening, also in Indianapolis, inside the same car he was in when it was stolen.

While the authorities haven’t released much information on the case, Coats said Kason coming home wasn’t the only Christmas miracle.

“We came together for one purpose, with the desire to see one outcome and that is to find the baby alive,” said Coats. “It gives us a wonderful message during Christmas.”

The boys’ mother’s Instagram account says Kason is in the hospital, but the family hopes to have him home soon.
