Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud on Heisman Trophy finalists

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud is in New York City this weekend as a Heisman Trophy finalist. It is the second straight season Stroud has been invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony, something no Buckeye player has ever done.

But Stroud is not there alone. Three other finalists join the Buckeye signal caller in New York City this weekend, all among the best in the country and all hoping to bring the Heisman Trophy home to their respective schools.

The other finalists include USC quarterback Caleb Williams, TCU quarterback Max Duggan and Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett.

Williams completed 66.1 percent of his passes, throwing for 4,075 yards and 37 touchdowns to four interceptions. He also rushed for 372 yards and 10 more touchdowns on 109 carries, leading his team to the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Duggan threw for 3,321 yards and 30 touchdowns to four interceptions while competing 64.9 percent of his pass attempts. He also used his legs to rush for 404 yards and six additional scores on 112 carries while leading his team to the Big 12 Championship Game and a Playoff appearance.

Bennett completed 68.1 percent of his passes for the defending national champions, throwing for 3,425 yards and 20 touchdowns to six interceptions. He rushed for 184 yards and seven more touchdowns, helping the Bulldgos win the SEC and returning to the Playoff.

Stroud, by comparison, threw for 3,340 yards and 37 touchdowns with a 66.2 percent completion percentage. He helped the Scarlet and Gray also return to the Playoff.

On Friday, Stroud, who watches a lot of college football, was asked about each of the Heisman finalists. Here is what he had to say.
