Metro’s Silver Line extension to open Nov. 15 in time for Thanksgiving travel

After four years of delays, Metro’s Silver Line extension in Northern Virginia will open on Nov. 15, the transit agency announced Monday.

The 11.5-mile extension, Metro’s largest expansion in eight years, will connect the rail system to Dulles International Airport, long a coveted goal of both Metro and officials in Virginia, who have used the extension to lure businesses and development along the burgeoning tech corridor. The extension includes six stations and will mark Metro’s debut in Loudoun County.
