Jason Nixon out of cabinet, appointed new committee chair
Innisfail-Sylvan Lake MLA Devin Dreeshen named minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors in the Smith cabinet
SUNDRE – Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre MLA Jason Nixon has been left out of the new Danielle Smith cabinet after serving as minister of Environment and Minister of Finance under former premier Jason Kenney.
Smith announced her new cabinet Friday, keeping several Kenney-era ministers, but not Nixon.
Nixon did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Innisfail-Sylvan Lake MLA Devin Dreeshen, who formerly served as minister of Agriculture in the Kenney cabinet, has been named minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors in the Smith cabinet.
Nixon has been appointed to chair the new Economy and Affordability Cabinet Policy Committee.
Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills MLA Nathan Cooper remains as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
