1) Young Woman Survives Crash That Broke Her Leg And Sent Her To Bottom Of A Ravine

A 21-year-old woman is recuperating at University Hospitals in Cleveland after her car hydroplaned, crashed into a guardrail and landed at the bottom of a 20-foot ravine. Alexis “Lexi” LaPorte broke her foot and leg and part of her toe was cut off.

  • She went in and out of consciousness for nine hours until she could free herself. LaPorte climbed back up the ravine but several cars failed to stop when she tried to wave them down for help.
  • Eventually, someone did stop, emergency rescue was summoned and Lifeflight flew her to Cleveland.
  • She may need more surgery and will need to learn how to walk again.

2) The temperature outside may be 90 degrees and the air may be humid, but Lake Erie water is still cold, cold, cold. If you’re thinking of going for a swim, be careful. The National Weather Service says the water temperature in the lake is in the 50s — and hypothermia is possible anytime the water temperature is below 70 degrees.

5) The Cleveland Browns have no intention of cutting quarterback Baker Mayfield if no team acquires him in a trade, reports Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot. That should make for an awkward QB room. Training camp begins in July. Mayfield has $18.68 million in guaranteed money for the coming season. There’s even some speculation Mayfield could start the season if Deshaun Watson is suspended by the NFL over his sexual misconduct lawsuits.
