OHIO WEATHER

? Covid-Era Inflation Impacts Real Estate Market + Child Hit By Car

Hello, neighbors. It’s me, Carla Varner, your host of the Lakewood Daily — here to tell you everything you need to know about what’s happening in town. Here we go.

First, today’s weather:

A heavy t-storm; not as warm. High: 77 Low: 59.

Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:

  1. Covid-era inflation has impacted the Northeast Ohio real estate market with low inventory and soaring homes prices. Mark Vittardi of the Akron Cleveland Association of Realtors blamed the inflationary rate hikes on out-of-state buyers and advised buyers to be prepared and educated. Sandy Maline, a broker with Advantage in Real Estate, recommends that buyers use an escalation clause to compete with cash offers, a tactic of offering to pay up to $2,000 over the highest bid. (Clevelandmagazine.com)
  2. A three-year old boy was struck by a vehicle on Cleveland’s East side late Monday night. The child’s parents rushed him to University Hospitals. The driver has not been identified and the child’s condition is not known. (Cleveland 19)
  3. Ninety-seven-year old Akron native, Robert Sabetay, left for Normandy, France today for a a week-long series of events commemorating the 78th anniversary of D-Day. The Best Defense Foundation and Delta Airlines made the trip possible. Sabetay said that he had a lot of close calls and he feels good that he still has his faculties. (Cleveland 19)
