Eric Anton Traub Obituary – Akron Beacon Journal

Eric Anton Traub, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at home in Red Bluff, CA on April 2nd, 2022, at the age of 67. Eric was born on August 20, 1954, in Akron, OH to Anton and Rosemary (Koerber) Traub.

Eric raised three children with his first wife in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He was proud to have been able to ensure his children had access to excellent schools, and was equally proud and admiring of the adults they grew up to be. Mechanically and technologically inclined, Eric held positions over the years in IT, welding, real estate, and as an operating engineer. He was a championship driver in the Akron Sports Car Club and loved working on cars and motors of any kind. Eric will always be remembered for his aptitude in these fields and his eagerness to share his knowledge with others.

Leaving Ohio, Eric settled in California for the last 20 years. After the Camp Fire in 2018, Eric felt compelled to help and joined FEMA as an IT Specialist Reservist and worked steadily to assist survivors with recovery efforts. Eric loved music and playing the harmonica. He was also devoted to the well-being of any dog or cat that had the honor of living beside him. Eric had several crows as pets when he was young, and later in Red Bluff, he enjoyed raising chickens and tended to them with care and protectiveness. He was clever, hard working, intuitive, sympathetic, and considerate – a man whose heart grew to love this planet and most of its creatures. He was a loyal friend and supportive partner and had a knack for problem-solving, by engineering solutions. Eric and his wife lived on a small ranch in Red Bluff, CA, which he named, Rancho Paradiso. He will be deeply missed.

Eric is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle Dooley, and his dear children from his first marriage; daughters, Charlene and Pamela Traub, and his son, Eric Von Traub; grandchildren Jimmy Graham and Anthony Traub; and sisters Nicole, Melissa, and Kristin.

Per Eric’s wishes, he was cremated, and a private gathering will be held in his memory on his birthday, August 20th, of this year.
