Erie County’s Top Performers in high school spring sports
BASEBALL
Logan Wells, Mercyhurst Prep: His RBI double in the top of the eighth inning was the difference for the Lakers when they beat Titusville 4-3.
Dan Snyder, McDowell baseball: The University of Louisville recruit starred on the mound (six innings as the winning pitcher) and at the plate (three hits and two RBIs) when the Trojans beat Cathedral Prep 6-3 at UPMC Park.
Cam Williamson, Harbor Creek: His big game at the plate for the Huskies, who beat Corry 8-1, consisted of a home run as one of his three hits and four RBIs.
Aari Fox, Fairview: He had three hits and scored twice for the Tigers when they beat Northwestern 13-1 in six innings.
Luke Costello, Cathedral Prep: He drove in five runs when the the Ramblers routed Harbor Creek 15-0 in three innings.
SOFTBALL
Haylee Dyne, Corry: She struck out 10 Titusville batters when the Beavers beat the Rockets 2-1.
Madison Simmerman, Villa Maria: Her 4-for-4 effort at the plate during the Victors’ 19-0, four-inning win over Erie High included two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored.
Makenna Gordon, Northwestern: She hit a double and contributed to a combined five-inning, no-hitter for the Wildcats when they beat Iroquois 10-0.
Lauren Konkol, Seneca: She recorded three hits for the Bobcats during their 10-5 win against North East.
Aubrey Wells, Mercyhurst Prep: She drove in three runs for the Lakers when they beat Girard 17-7 in six innings.
Brianna Price, Fairview: She totaled three hits, runs scored and RBIs when the Tigers defeated Girard 16-1 in three innings.
Catrina Miller, General McLane: She recorded a hitting rarity with three triples in one game and also scores four times when the Lancers routed Mercyhurst Prep 19-0 in three innings.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Connor McChesney, Fort LeBoeuf: He was a two-time winner in field events (javelin and pole vault) when the Bison defeated Mercyhurst Prep and Fairview in a tri-meet.
Lee Hoover, Seneca: The field athlete for the Bobcats won the high jump and long jump at the North East Invitational.
Ryan Miller, Seneca: He swept the 110 and 300-meter hurdles during the North East Invitational.
Brandon Konieczki, Harbor Creek: He was a track (100 meters) and field (long jump) victor during the North East Invitational.
Jace Wells, General McLane: He cleared 5 feet, 11 inches in the high jump, good for first place in that event during Gibsonia’s Pine-Richland Invitational.
DaMario Crawford, Cathedral Prep: He landed at 20 feet, 7 inches for first place in the long jump at the Baldwin Invitational.
Nicholas Krahe, Harbor Creek: The junior won the Baldwin Invitational’s shot put competition with a throw of 53 feet, 3 inches.
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Audrey Friedman, Fort LeBoeuf: The Penn State University recruit helped the Bison beat Fairview and Mercyhurst Prep in a tri-meet with her first-place javelin throw of 151 feet, 7 inches that was the best in the state as of May 9. … She won the javelin and shot put competitions during the North East Invitational. … She recorded first-place throws in the shot put (36 feet, 1 1/2 inches) and the javelin (99-9) at the Pine-Richland Invitational at Gibsonia.
Katie Proctor, Fort LeBoeuf: She won the pole vault competition (8 feet, 6 inches) by a even foot over two other competitors when the Bison beat Fairview and Mercyhurst Prep in a tri-meet.
Dara Fallon, McDowell: She swept the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the North East Invitational.
Reagan Pettis, Northwestern: The distance specialist for the Wildcats won the 3,200-meter run during the North East Invitational.
Amelya Bretz, Harbor Creek: She finished first in the long jump and triple jump at the North East Invitational.
Sarah Clark, Villa Maria: The junior had a first-place time of 11 minutes, 24.85 seconds in the Baldwin Invitational’s 3,200-meter run, and also led off the Victors’ winning 3,200 relay (10:06.66).
BOYS LACROSSE
Eric Hindman, Cathedral Prep: He set the program’s record for points in a match (four goals and eight assists) during the Ramblers’ 21-4 victory over Boardman (Ohio).
Jake Conrad, Cathedral Prep: His nine goals during the Ramblers’ 21-4 win over Boardman (Ohio) left him with a team-record 52 for a single season.
Will McBrier, Cathedral Prep: He scored three goals during the Ramblers’ 20-1 victory at Conneaut (Pennsylvania).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Alexa Panetta, McDowell: The Walsh College recruit scored four times during the Trojans’ 14-8 win against Villa Maria. … Her six goals also were double Villa Maria’s total when they beat the Victors 19-3.
BOYS TENNIS
Jonah Ng, Cathedral Prep: The freshman only lost one game over four matches en route to first place in District 10’s Class 2A singles tournament at Westwood Racquet Club. … He won his No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 during the Ramblers’ regular season dual finale, a 3-2 non-region victory over New York’s Canisius High School.
Aaron Heinlein, McDowell: The junior repeated as champion of District 10’s Class 3A singles tournament at Westwood Racquet Club.
Jaden Rocco, Harbor Creek: The third-seeded Huskie advanced to the championship match of District 10’s Class 2A singles tournament.
Dan Bargielski, McDowell: The unseeded Trojan upset the District 10 Class 3A singles tournament’s second and third seeds en route to a berth in its final.
