Ohio Means Jobs Hosts Career Fair for High School Seniors
OhioMeansJobs hosted a career fair at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds earlier today.
Local high school seniors were invited to learn about jobs available in the area.
There were over 30 different employers and hundreds of students at the event.
There are many positions available according to Julie Metzger, the Supervisor for Ohio Means Jobs.
“The students are able to learn about open positions in Muskingum County. Right now we have over 900 positions in Muskingum County that need to be filled. So what better way than to bring the high school students in from all of the area high schools and have them talk with employers,” she said.
Many of the jobs available offer fair wages and include benefits.
Chad Hanson, Human Resource Officer for Halliburton, says that he hopes the event shows students their options. “I hope that the students that show up today get an opportunity to really explore their options. Not just choose just a job to choose a job. But they actually talk to an employer. Learn what they do exactly and choose something that they really want to do and hopefully retire from that company.
Students were also able to fill out applications and be hired on site, some jobs even offered bonuses.
Ohio Means Jobs does hope to host this event again in upcoming years.
