New 2023 Honda Civic Type R Sets New Suzuka Circuit Lap Record
A prototype of the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R has already proven that it will be a formidable car. Back in April, Honda shared with the world that the camouflaged Type R had set a new track record for a front-wheel-drive car at the legendary Suzuka Circuit, home to the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix.
For this round of show-and-race, the Type R will lap the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the events surrounding the July 1-3 Honda Indy Race. The area’s link to Honda goes back 40 years when the car company established the first auto manufacturing facilities by a Japanese automaker in the US.
The specially-camouflaged 2023 Honda Civic Type R prototype will complete numerous demonstration laps over the weekend, and serve as the lead vehicle as the start of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on Sunday, July 3.
