Mansfield group hears from Ohio Supreme Court justice
Justice Pat DeWine spoke to the Mansfield Kiwanis Club on Thursday as part of his continued efforts to educate Ohioans about the Ohio Supreme Court.
DeWine gave the attendees a “behind-the-scenes look” at the Ohio Supreme Court, explaining how the court does it work and its impact on the lives of Ohioans. DeWine has spoken to over 50 civics clubs in the past year alone.
“Our court system is often the least understood branch of government,” he told the Kiwanis Club. “I think it is important as judges that we go out and talk to citizens about what our courts do, and why it matters.”
DeWine emphasized the critical role the court plays in protecting the constitutional rights of Ohioans, maintaining the rule of law and creating a legal environment where the economy can prosper.
DeWine has served on the Ohio Supreme Court since January 2017. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law and has served on all levels of the Ohio Judiciary.
