See how home values changed in every Ohio county from 2010 to 2020 – new census estimates
CLEVELAND, Ohio – If you bought a home in 2010, the chances are that you have seen the value of your home go up over the following decade, but some counties fared better than others.
Overall, median home values have increased by an average of 14% from 2010 to 2020 in Ohio, according to new estimates released in March by the Census Bureau. And as home buyers and shoppers will tell you, they have continued to go up since.
Holmes County, which has one of the largest Amish settlements globally, tops the list with a 45.1% increase, from a 2010 median home value of $154,600 to a 2020 value of $224,400. A Smart Asset study found that 32.6% of the growth happened between 2013 and 2018.
Other counties with high increases include Guernsey County (35.2%), Mercer County (30.4%), and Belmont County (30%).
In Cuyahoga County, the median home value increased 0.4% from $137,200 in 2010 to $137,800 in 2020, according to the census estimates.
These estimates for occupied single-family homes are based on what people tell the Census Bureau their homes are worth, not sales data or county property valuations.

Northern Ohio counties, on average, have shown slower growth, with three counties even seeing small decreases in median home value. Crawford (-0.4%), Ashtabula (-1.1%), and Lucas County (-1.2%) all have slightly decreased in value over the decade.
Delaware County has the highest total median property value in 2020 at $320,300, a 26.8% increase from the 2010 value of $252,700, which was also the highest median home value in the state at the time.
