OHIO WEATHER

Top Performers: Elite 11 Regional Ohio

The Elite 11 Regional took place at Massillon (Ohio) Washington on Saturday. Here is 247’s recap of what happened at the event.

Alpha Dog:
Detroit King’s Dante Moore earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals. Moore is very steady and consistent. We have seen him for almost four years now and his performance does not fluctuate. In addition to that, he is more filled in and stronger than he was at the same time a year ago. He can put pace on it when he needs to, touch when he needs to, but the biggest thing we see from him is consistency in his accuracy and how little he varies from ball to ball in a setting like this.

Next Five:

J.J. Kohl – Ankeny (Iowa) – 2023:
Kohl is every bit of his listed 6-foot-6. He might even be a tad over that at this point. He was easily the most physically imposing quarterback there, but that alone is not enough to earn a top performer nod. Kohl was throwing some heaters that had the receivers commenting on the pace he was putting on some of the balls. I think one of our concerns for him as he continues to grow is keeping mobility and he is still rolling and throwing off-platform well. He is uncommitted and considering Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin and more.

CJ Tiller – Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) – 2023:
A Boise State commit, Tiller came out from the West Coast and made the trip worth it. He has a live arm. His passes are like darts with the quickness of his release and ball speed and he showed he could be accurate while maintaining that ball speed. He also looked like a solid athlete who could move around with coordination and make passes while on the move.

Colin Hurley – Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian – 2025:
Only a 2025, Hurley’s arm talent was immediately noticeable from the first ball he let go. He throws a tight ball with good pace and spin. Solidly built at 6-foot-1, 190+ pounds. It will be interesting to see how much more he grows. Even if it is not much he looks like he will be heavily recruited.

Aidan Gray – Naperville (Ill.) North – 2023:
A Northwestern commit, Gray was one of the more consistent passers from the start of the event until the end. Very steady, confident and regularly put the ball on the mark as evidenced by his Golden Gun Accuracy results.

Lex Thomas – Wake Forest (NC) – 2023:
An NC State commit, Thomas has a quick release and a good fastball. He maybe wasn’t quite as consistent as a guy like Gray or Moore but when the ball came out of his hand, it was very noticeable. At 5-foot-11, he was one of the smaller quarterbacks in the top 2023 group, but he was right there with any of them as far as arm talent.

Top Tester:
Brady Drogosh – Warren (Mich.) De La Salle – 2023:
It was not a huge surprise that Drogosh tested well given how much of a running threat he was as a junior. Still, the actual numbers were impressive with him running a 4.68 forty and 4.21 shuttle at 6-foot-5. He continues to progress as a passer. Some of the peers he was grouped with may have a little more polish, but in our opinion, many of them do not have the upside he has. There is a lot to like here and even with his standout junior season, there is plenty of ceiling for him to have his best football in front of him.

Golden Gun Accuracy Challenge Winners:

– Kohl, Hurley and Gray from above

Dru DeShields – 2023 – Beloit (Ohio) West Branch

Brendan Zurbrugg – 2024 – Alliance (Ohio)

– Academy Winner: Mikey Maloney – 2025 – Painesville (Ohio) Riverside

Around the Camp:

– North Carolina commit Tad Hudson is a big, strong-framed passer who can generate power on his passes.

– Another 2023 quarterback who had a good day was Drew Viotto, who is headed to Eastern Michigan. He has thrown well at several straight events.

– Jackson (Ohio) 2023 Jacob Winters is a big, strong athlete who found himself in the top group and had a good day throwing the ball. Mitchell Bolden was in the top group as well and is another who could earn some athlete looks but continues to show he should first get a look at quarterback.

– We liked what Broc Lowry of Canfield (Ohio) did also. He is an athletic prospect who can throw on the move. He has an Iowa State offer among others.

– The 2024 class was well-represented, especially from the home state as Zurrbrug split the accuracy title for underclassmen and had an all-around impressive day, and a number of others like Landon O’Connell, Tyler Tusai and Talon Fisher all look like legit FBS, potentially Power Five recruits.

Isaiah Marshall from Michigan is another in the 2024 class who threw well. He was very solid all-around as he was at UA Ohio. He was on the radar very early and we continue to see the development with him from session to session.

Joey Tomasso from Waverly (NY) is another 2024 who threw it well.

– In the 2025 class, Findlay (Ohio) native Ryan Montgomery is tall, athletic, and has a lot of upside. He is still young and a work in progress but the ceiling is quite high. Jalen Slaughter also flashes arm talent.

– There were a number of 2023s who do not yet have college offers who looked like they have the talent to earn them in the future: Cory Chavis, Ethan Hamby and Robert LaLain from Michigan; Nathaniel Kolkath, Jackson Flottmeyer and Jerry Kaminski from an impressive Wisconsin group; Bryce Schondelmyer and Braden Mantooth from Ohio, and Greg Menne from Fort Osage (Mo.) who we did not know about before today but threw some really good balls.

Tom Loy and Mick Walker contributed to this report.
