German Village Garten Club offering plants for sale

The German Village Garten Club plant sale is underway.

Yes, warmer weather is coming, and gardeners are itching to get started creating colorful landscapes for their homes.

For those wanting to get a jump-start, the German Village Garten Club is hosting an online plant sale, featuring annuals, vegetables, hanging baskets and herbs. Customers can select their plants from the list on the club’s website, www.germanvillagegartenclub.com/shop.

The order deadline is April 28. Plants, however, often sell out early and new varieties may be added, so check the site for updates. Customers can pay for purchases online.

Gardening:Seed catalogs, websites can help growers plan ahead

Plants can be picked up from 3 to 7:30 p.m. May 6 at the German Village Meeting Haus, 588 S. 3rd St. Customers will be contacted via email, phone or text to set up a pickup time to limit the number of people on-site and to avoid traffic congestion.

All proceeds benefit community beautification in historic German Village. The German Village Garten Club maintains the planters that line 3rd Street and Frank Fetch Park, which has been named Columbus’ best “pocket park.”
