Imran Khan Loses No-Trust Vote Against Him in Pakistan National Assembly

Imran Khan has lost the no-confidence vote against him in Pakistan’s National Assembly. The results of the vote were declared at around 1:00 PST (1:30 IST), with 174 members favouring the resolution of no-trust.

Khan walked out of the PM’s official residence after the no-confidence vote commenced, as per a leader of the Pakistan Tehreekh-e-Insaf party. This comes after the country’s Cabinet had decided at a meeting held late on Saturday night that Khan will not resign, even as the embattled PM was expected to lose the no-confidence vote against him.

The speaker and the deputy speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly tendered their resignations shortly before the vote was initiated. This came after the Pakistan National Assembly’s session was adjourned till 9:30 pm, but resumed only at around 11:45 pm, shortly before the court’s 9 April deadline for the vote.
