Cabinet holds weekly meeting | The Peninsula Qatar


Doha: The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting held at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.

Following the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti issued the following statement:

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet listened to the explanation given by Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari on the latest developments to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures that have been taken to combat the pandemic.

After that, the Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda as follows:

First – Approval – in principle – of a draft law on documents and archives.

The bill aims to regulate the handling, classification, preservation and protection of public, historical, national and other documents.

Second – Approval – in principle – of a draft Amiri decision regulating the Qatar National Archive.

The National Archive aims to organize the collection and preservation of documents and archives, classify their confidentiality, and supervise them. In order to achieve this, it has the right to exercise all the powers and competencies necessary to achieve its objectives.

Third – Take the necessary measures to ratify an agreement on canceling visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and special passports between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Fourth – Approval of a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of civil aviation between the Civil Aviation Authority in the State of Qatar and the Civil Aviation Commission of Latin American countries.
