Agave & Rye Doubles Down with Plans for 2 Columbus Locations
Covington, KY based Agave & Rye is doubling down on its debut in the Columbus market. Joining a previously-announced takeover of the former SPAGIO space at 1295 Grandview Ave., is a Short North spot at 479 N. High St., the address vacated by Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in the fall of 2019.
Tacos, tequila and bourbon are the focus of the concept from restaurateurs Yavonne and Wade Sarber. The Sarbers are a familiar name in the Columbus dining scene having previously operated Downtown restaurants Manifesto, Chez du Bon, Oliver’s Burgers Steaks & Bourbon, Fin, MEATbar and deNOVO.
“This is an extremely exciting expansion for Agave & Rye,” Yavonne Sarber, co-founder & CEO, said in a press release. “For years, we’ve had fans online and in person asking when we’d be expanding throughout Ohio, and it makes us so, so happy to finally be able to announce to all those who have been waiting in Columbus: ‘We are finally here!’”
Agave & Rye’s tacos err to the non-traditional, with tacos that sample a variety of other cuisines, from Asian to Greek to Southern, and feature a plethora of unusual ingredients. The new locations also promise some new additions to the menu.
Each location will seat 200 plus total – 250 indoors and 40 on the patio and Grandview, and 140 indoors and 90 on the patio in Short North.
Both spots are scheduled to open in May and will mark locations 11 and 12 for Agave & Rye, which states its intentions to continue an aggressive expansion plan.
