Ohio police say man used boards, nails in attempt to flatten cruiser tires – WHIO TV 7
AURORA, Ohio — Police in northeastern Ohio are searching for a man they said tried to flatten the tires on police cruisers.
In a Facebook post, the Aurora Police Department said a man buried deck boards with nails sticking up under gravel in a place where officers park their vehicles while enforcing speed limits and no-through truck traffic, WJW-TV reported.
“Fortunately for us, a law-abiding citizen observed a male in a blue plaid jacket with a beard situating the boards just perfectly in an attempt to flatten some tires,” the police department wrote in its Facebook post on Wednesday. “The male likely parked in the Tinkers Trail area and fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival.”
The boards were found in two separate areas just off the roadway on Mennonite Road in Aurora, officials said.
Aurora is located southeast of Cleveland and northeast of Akron in Portage County.
Police are asking any witnesses to call the department at 330-562-8181.
“With the rising cost of lumber, we would really like to get these boards back to him,” the department wrote on Facebook.
