Orange Line service suspended in downtown due to power problem
MBTA Orange Line service was briefly suspended in downtown Boston Thursday afternoon.Officials said an MBTA supervisor extinguished a small fire on the tracks at Back Bay. At 3:55 p.m., officials said the Orange Line trains could not run between Back Bay and North Station because of the power problem. Riders were advised to use the Green Line as an alternative for downtown service. Shuttle buses were also called to run between Back Bay and Jackson Square, officials said. Service was restored between North Station and Jackson Square about 50 minutes later and buses were phased out. Earlier this week, Green Line service through downtown was interrupted because of a separate power issue.
