Columbus Arts Festival to return to Scioto riverfront after hiatus

When the Columbus Arts Festival returns in June after a two-year hiatus because of the pandemic, it will take place in a familiar location.

The popular art event, which will run June 10-12, will remain in its original riverfront area, despite talks last spring and summer of moving the festival to the Arena District, organizers at the Greater Columbus Arts Council announced Tuesday.

With scenic views of the Scioto River, artists booths will fill the Main and Rich Street bridges.

Festival director Sean Kessler said in a press release that they were unable to reach a suitable and safe traffic plan for producing the event in the Arena District.

Solidifying their decision to stay put, Kessler added that the completion of some construction in the riverfront area has created new parking spaces and public art displays that will open ahead of the festival.
