The James A. Rhodes State Office Tower is a 41-story, 629-foot skyscraper, at 30 E. Broad St., in downtown Columbus. Opened in 1974, it is the tallest building in Columbus.

Columbus firefighters rescued an Ohio principal assistant attorney general uninjured Tuesday afternoon after a cable snapped on the elevator he was riding in the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower, Downtown.

Fire personnel were called just before 5 p.m. to the 41-story building located at 30 East Broad St., on a report of an unknown number of occupants becoming trapped in the elevator, said Battalion Chief Steve Martin, a spokesman for the city fire division.
