Which Southwest Ohio high school boys basketball teams made Top 10?
The fourth Ohio Prep Sportswriter’s Association high school boys basketball rankings of 2022 were released Monday afternoon with no dramatic changes. The Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament begins in less than a month.
In Division I, defending state champion Centerville garnered all of the first-place votes. The undefeated Elks knocked out Elder last season in the tournament. This year’s Panthers squad is at No. 7 after a 59-38 win over St. Xavier Friday night.
Right behind 14-3 Elder is 14-2 Fairfield. The Indians have only lost to St. Xavier and to Division II No. 2 Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary. They travel to Princeton Friday night.
Moeller at 13-3 finished just outside of the top 10 at No. 11. The Crusaders will try to avenge an early January loss when they host No. 7 Elder Friday night.
In Division II, Woodward keeps a No. 5 ranking having just won at Western Hills. They did lose on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to Kettering Fairmont who is ranked No. 4 in Division I. The Bulldogs host Aiken on Tuesday.
Making their first appearance in the 2022 rankings is Taylor at No. 10. The 13-2 Yellowjackets have won six straight games and host Finneytown Tuesday night.
Taft drops to No. 8 in Division III. The Senators are 8-5 after losing Saturday night on the road to Division I No. 2 Pickerington Central. Many of Taft’s games have come against bigger schools. Featuring the top junior in Ohio according to 247Sports.com, Rayvon Griffith, the Senators will be at Shroder Tuesday night.
