Which Southwest Ohio girls prep basketball teams have top 10 rankings?
Still officially undefeated at 15-0, Mount Notre Dame’s Cougars continue to be the top-ranked girls’ high school basketball team in Division I in the latest Ohio media poll released Tuesday.
Dr. Scott Rogers coached MND to back-to-back wins in the Classic in the Country tournament over the weekend against North Canton Hoover and Olmsted Falls. Since a loss at home that was reversed to a forfeit by Princeton, the Cougars have won seven straight for a 15-0 record. They host Mercy McAuley Thursday night and feature reigning Ohio Ms. Basketball KK Bransford who leads the Girls Greater Catholic League in scoring (22.8) and assists (4.7). Bransford is a Notre Dame signee.
Getting four first-place votes but finishing third overall was Princeton who followed a loss at home to Mason with weekend wins over Colerain and Gahanna Lincoln. Princeton at 13-2 hosts Middletown Wednesday night. Junior guard Solé Williams leads the Greater Miami Conference in scoring at 24.7 points per game.
Mason ties Olmsted Falls for sixth after just their second loss. The Comets fell 38-37 to South Bend Washington (Indiana) on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Mason travels to Fairfield Wednesday. Kyla Oldacre, a 6-foot-6 inch center signed with the Miami Hurricanes averages 13.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and a GMC-leading 3.5 blocks per game.
In Division III, Purcell Marian dismantled the No. 5 Division II team, Bishop Hartley 70-36 on Monday to advance their record to 13-1. The Cavaliers received three first-place votes and were fifth overall. Freshman 6-foot-1 inch forward Darriana Alexander leads the Miami Valley Conference in scoring at 25.4 points per game.
