2-Year-Old Missing Girl Found Drowned in Marshall County | News, Sports, Jobs
LIMESTONE — A 2-year-old girl who was briefly reported missing from her home in Marshall County was found drowned in a pond near the house Wednesday evening.
According to Marshall County Sheriff Bill Helms, a 911 call came around 5:30 from both of the child’s parents, who were home at the time, when the child went missing.
After a search of the area, which was on Tree Line Lane, about a mile and a half away from the Ohio-Marshall county line, first responders began searching a pond less than 100 yards away from the house. Helms said a Limestone EMS firefighter found the girl in the pond and began applying lifesaving measures.
“The child was transported by ambulance to the hospital, with more life-saving procedures, but it was too late. The child didn’t make it to the hospital,” Helms said.
The child and family were not identified by Thursday morning, and Helms said deputies were still conducting interviews, and the matter remains an open investigation.
“It’s horrible. We’re just trying to figure out what happened, and what went on,” he added.
