Judge Sadler, defeated in November, appointed to vacancy on same court
Judge Lisa Sadler was defeated in a bid for re-election to the Franklin County Court of Appeals in November, but she’ll remain on the bench for at least 18 months after her current term ends in June.
Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Sadler to a vacancy on the same court, formally known as the 10th District Court of Appeals, allowing her to complete a term that runs through December 2022.
Sadler, 63, will move into the seat that Judge Jennifer Brunner vacated after winning a seat on the Ohio Supreme Court in the November election.
Sadler is completing her third term on the court, which handles appeals for Franklin County courts as well as those involving numerous state agencies.
She will switch to Brunner’s former seat on Monday, according to the governor’s office, and must run in November 2022 for a full term.
Sadler was defeated in November by Franklin County Juvenile Court Judge Terri B. Jamison, who will move to the appeals court bench on July 1.
Sadler has been a judge since 1992 and has the distinction of being the only woman to have served on all three courts — municipal, common pleas and appeals — in Franklin County.
She also served as an assistant Columbus city attorney and worked as deputy chief legal counsel in the in the governor’s office.
