Twitter Has Field Day Over Mariah Carey’s Appearance In Thanksgiving Parade

Superstar Mariah Carey made an appearance in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, and Twitter followers had a field day with the singer as she appeared to lip-sync her performance.

In video posted on YouTube, the 52-year-old singer was decked out wearing an off-the-shoulder hot pink floor-length dress while holding a sparkling umbrella in one hand and a microphone in the other. She wore a tiara as she stood on a giant star.

Carey tried to make it look like she was singing her monster hit song “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” but it appeared from the footage that the music was just playing in the background, with many Twitter users accused her of lip-syncing, the New York Post noted. Other noticed that the “One Sweet Day” hitmaker was flanked on all sides by dozens of energetic dancers as she basically just stood.

“Mariah Carey is getting millions right now to just stand there with her umbrella and honestly I’m not mad. Mad respect,” sports journalist Ian Hest tweeted.

“I love the lack of energy Mariah Carey gives in her performances,” another person wrote. “It’s the one thing we can all count on.”

While another shared, “Mariah Carey getting paid to just stand there at the Thanksgiving Parade and not even pretend to be actually singing to the backing track lmfao queen behavior.”

Carey supporters came to her defense as they noted that no one in the parade was performing live.

“There’s no way that not one single artist performs live at this parade, yet people are mad at Mariah for it. Are you all ok?” one person wrote.

Others joked that the pop singer had been thawed out or had come out of hibernation in time to celebrate the holiday.

“This is not a drill,” one person wrote. “Mariah Carey has been thawed out. Christmas has begun.”

“Mariah Carey has come out of hibernation [Macys Parade],” another wrote.

The “Hero” hitmaker recently lost her bid to trademark “Queen of Christmas,” a moniker she’s been referred to as for years, after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office decided that wasn’t possible, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
