Catalytic converter thieves hit industrial parkway: Highland Heights Police Blotter


HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ohio

Theft from auto: Alpha Park

Four vans belonging to two different companies were found to have catalytic converters cut from them Jan. 12 at the industrial park.

General assistance: North Greenway Court

A woman reported Jan. 11 that her soon to be ex-husband had destroyed some of her clothing. It was found to be a civil matter, since both still reside in the same home.

Theft: Alpha Drive

A woman accidentally left her purse in the Drug Mart parking lot Jan. 14. Her phone was inside of it, so she was able to track its location and discovered that it was still in the same area.

She returned to the store, where she learned that someone had turned in the purse to the staff. It was missing cash and a few blank checks.

Officers advised her to report the matter to her bank in case of any fraudulent activity.

Fraud: Woodside Road

A real estate agent reported Jan. 15 that a home he has listed for sale was also being listed fraudulently on Facebook Marketplace. A phone number was listed with the posting, but calls to it went unanswered. Officers advised him to contact Facebook.

Theft: Esther Road

A resident reported Jan. 15 that a gun was missing from his home. He said it was kept in storage at his home for several months and he just recently discovered it missing.

He suspected that an ex-girlfriend, who had lived with him previously, may be in possession of the gun, but he did not have good contact information for her.

General assistance: Longspur Road

A caller said Jan. 16 that an SUV was pulling a sled on the roadway. Officers located those involved and issued a warning.

Disturbance: Belwood Road

A woman got into an argument with a man who was staying at her house Jan. 17 after she said he started unpacking her stuff. The man agreed to leave the home. Officers gave him a ride to a location in Mayfield Heights at his request.

Theft: Wilson Mills Road

Home Depot loss prevention confronted a shoplifter outside the store Jan. 18. The unknown man left behind a cart of merchandise and fled as a passenger in a vehicle, which was not located by responding officers.

The merchandise was valued at $797.
